Sanctity of a Muslim's Life
Narrated by ʿAbd Allāh bin Masʿūdعنْ [ابنِ مسعودٍ] رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: (قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "لاَ يَحِلُّ دَمُ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ إِلاَّ بِإِحْدَى ثَلاَثٍ: الثَّيِّبِ الزَّانِي، وَالنَّفْسِ بِالنَّفْسِ، وَالتَّارِكِ لِدِينِهِ الْمُفَارِقِ لِلْجَمَاعَةِ"). رواه البخاريُّ ومسلمٌ.
From Ibn Masʿūd (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu) who said:
The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wasallam) said, "The blood of a Muslim who testifies none has the right to be worshipped (in truth) but Allāh and that I am the Messenger of Allāh is not taken lawfully except in one of three: The adulterer, a life for life and the one who abandons his religion and separates from the jamāʿah (of the Muslims)."
